Best Travel Tips For Lawyers

Picture
Mobile trends have made it possible for you as a lawyer to have a complete mobile office at your fingertips any time you need it. However, when you go out of town for several days, it can be a pain trying to keep up with all your gadgets and devices. Gotta remember to pack your laptop, tablet, camera, smartphone, extra batteries and cables, and don't forget your memory cards and flash drives.

Multiple mobile phones

Some lawyers carry two mobile phones through two different carriers for business trips. This way, if one carrier doesn't have service in a specific area, hopefully the other one will. It's helpful if one phone is on a GSM network (such as AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.) and the other on a CDMA network (Verizon, Sprint, etc.). It also helps in case you want to tether the other phone to use it as a Wi-Fi expander. This gives you internet access for your laptop and tablet anywhere you have phone service, while allowing you to use the other phone for calls and texts.

Power and organization options

A power inverter can be used to provide AC power inside your vehicle as you're traveling. A power strip can be used for multiple outlets in the vehicle or in a hotel room, where outlets are sparse. As for USB cables, camera cables, headphones and chargers, they should all be kept in a single location, such as a small bag where they can be easily accessed.

Data backup for high availability

Since you will probably access your data through a cloud service, you should have a backup of all your data in case something happens and you lose access to your data. A cloud backup service like cloudHQ will ensure that you have access to all your data at all times. The cloudHQ service works by providing an automatic and continuous replication of all data from your main cloud account to a backup cloud account. This way, if the cloud service's servers go down and your data is temporarily unavailable, you can simply switch to the other cloud service account and continue working with your data uninterrupted.

It also helps in case a hacker gets your password, steals your phone or laptop, gains access to your account and deletes data- you will still have a secure backup of all your data in the other account. You must have access to your data at all times and cloudHQ ensures that your data has high availability while you are traveling.
