Dropbox In The Law Firm

Picture
As far as cloud services and applications go, Dropbox is one of the most popular. Dropbox has practically revolutionized the way files can be shared. This is extremely useful in a law firm where lawyers and their staff are constantly creating documents; adding documents, notes and photographs to case files; collaborating with clients and coworkers; and sharing informational documents and files.

How easy is it to use Dropbox?

Dropbox is simple to use, which makes it even more popular and useful as there is no complicated training involved in its use. Basically, a user signs up for Dropbox and installs it on their computer. When they open Dropbox on the computer, it opens a folder that looks just like any other Windows folder. In this folder, sub-folders can be created. These folders can be shared with specific people or they can be kept private. This is especially useful in the law firm where much sensitive data is being transferred, created and stored. By limiting the users that can access the data, this keeps confidential records and files private and secure.

Is Dropbox Secure?

Due to the sensitivity of the data used in law firms, security is a big concern. Dropbox has adequate security measures in place for people that need them. Such as 256-bit encryption to protect sensitive data. All data is encrypted during transfer and storage. There is also a two-step authentication measure. This means even if a hacker is able to access your password (keylogger, steals your laptop or tablet, etc.), they will not be able to access the Dropbox account unless they also have access to your mobile phone.

How much does Dropbox cost?

Dropbox offers a free account with 2GB of storage. Extra space can be added by performing certain tasks and by getting other users to sign up. There are also paid options at 100GB, 200GB and 500GB. There is also Dropbox Teams, an option that starts at 1TB of space for 5 users. This choice would be ideal for projects where a team of lawyers are working on the same case.
