Top 5 Trends For Lawyers In 2014

Cloud computing

Picture
Cloud computing trends have been steadily increasing in the last several years and 2014 appears to be set to continue this trend. New cloud startups are being created on a constant basis, and existing cloud services are becoming more sophisticated. The power of cloud computing is pushing mobile trends to new heights as well, the two actually work very well together. Cloud providers are creating mobile apps that allow lawyers to access the cloud services from any mobile device. So if a lawyer creates a document database on a cloud service such as Box or Dropbox, these documents can be accessed quickly on a mobile device from any location that has internet access.

Mobile in the courtroom

Mobile devices are quickly becoming commonplace in courtrooms. Cloud data can be accessed directly from the courtroom, presentations can be given, documents reviewed, research material obtained and reviewed, and much more. Mobile devices with access to law firm cloud accounts become a virtual office that goes with the lawyer everywhere he goes. 2014 should see an increase in mobile device usage in courtroom situations.

Social network

Social networking is currently one of the most popular trends, even for lawyers. The ability to reach out to a large audience can make the legal practice much more productive. Lawyers can connect with an unlimited number of potential clients; not only that, but lawyers can connect with other lawyers and legal sources for informational purposes. With the advent of new social networking sites, and the expansion of current social networking sites, 2014 should be a huge year for being social.

Enterprise apps

Enterprise apps are becoming common in the workplace, and lawyers typically maintain a suite of such tools at their disposal from legal-specific apps such as Rocket Matter and Clio to project management apps such as Basecamp; cloud storage apps such as Box and Dropbox; document management apps such as Google Drive and Evernote; and more. The use of these apps for enterprise use helps employees attain higher levels of efficiency and productivity. But it also creates a few problems when it comes to collaboration and the flow of data through so many different cloud services. In the next section we will take a look at how cloudHQ solves these problems.

Cloud integration

The future of cloud integration looks to be accelerating in 2014. Cloud apps are being created and adapted by companies at a more frequent pace than recent years. Currently 86% of companies are currently using some form of cloud computing. With the surging popularity of BYOS (Bring your own Service), companies find that data is flowing through, and being stored on, many different platforms. This can be a disorganized nightmare when specific files need to be found. It can also make it harder to collaborate on projects and files when employees are using different cloud services.

cloudHQ brings cloud services together. So to keep data between multiple cloud services organized, companies can use cloudHQ to create an easily-searchable database where all the data from cloud services are directed to. cloudHQ syncs the data between cloud services automatically, and stores the data in organized folders. And if workers need to collaborate on a project or file using different cloud services, cloudHQ makes it happen.
